On paper, the plan was straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-85050060ef3e2990b9a090d566e47711\">In practice, the Irish weather had other ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Incessant Rain and Saturated Ground<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-591c8166ec36575db511c2641f5166a5\">Since late winter, we\u2019ve experienced:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7d163cf8d075a55cf79cb5909fdad7b9\">Continuous rainfall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6a3b754b42d5f036b6c005c779900452\">Very few sustained dry periods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1ae5e5c80bf3c35d1fd3f00f6ce16c18\">Permanently saturated soil conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c2867dac13b87a3c0a23c70912112171\">The result has been simple but highly disruptive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9f6130bceb4393c872b7ae6bad1b0a0a\"><strong>we have not been able to get onto the land to complete our trellising.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f27060f4cebb1ad5cbb99733178e0262\">Even when rain stopped briefly, the ground remained too wet to support machinery.
